You'll need

  • 12 cups popped popcorn (about ½ cup kernels)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda

  2. Bring the brown sugar, butter, corn syrup and salt to a boil over medium heat, stirring. Then boil 4 minutes without stirring.
  3. Take off the heat and stir in the baking soda and vanilla (it will foam).
  4. Pour over the popcorn and stir to coat.
  5. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on wax paper to cool, then break apart.
