Front Counter Tea Cakes

“Old-fashioned soft sugar cookies, just like the glass case used to hold.”

You'll need

• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1½ cups sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 3½ cups flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ cup buttermilk

How to make it

1. Cream the butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
2. Mix the flour, baking soda and salt, then add to the butter mix with the buttermilk.
3. Chill the dough 1 hour.
4. Roll ¼ inch thick, cut rounds and bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes.
